A 26-year-old professional bodybuilder from Rohtak, Haryana, was brutally killed after a late-night altercation at a wedding in Bhiwani district. Rohit Dhankhar, a national and state-level medalist, succumbed to his injuries at PGIMS Rohtak on Saturday, a day after being assaulted by a group of men with rods and hockey sticks. The incident began on Friday night when Dhankhar and his friend Jatin were asked to step aside to allow women to pass while taking selfies at the wedding venue. However, a heated argument erupted after the group was allegedly using improper language. According to Jatin, the group chased and attacked them, smashing their car windows and dragging Dhankhar out before beating him mercilessly. The police have registered a murder case and named four individuals in the FIR, while over a dozen others are yet to be identified. Dhankhar's family claims he was attacked for objecting to the harassment of women at the wedding. His uncle Satish said the confrontation began over improper language used by some youths. The bodybuilder's family is mourning the loss of their sole breadwinner, who had earned several national and state-level medals, including an honour from former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in 2016.
