Fog rolled in over Haryana early yesterday morning, shrouding the state in a thick blanket of mist that claimed three lives and left several others injured. The devastating road accidents occurred in Sonipat and Nuh districts, where visibility levels plummeted to just a few meters. In Nuh, a CISF inspector from Alwar and a Jaipur resident lost their lives in a multiple-vehicle pileup on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. The inspector was traveling in a separate vehicle when the accident occurred. A bus was also involved, and at least six passengers suffered minor injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that nearly 20 vehicles were involved in the pileup, making it difficult to determine which vehicle was at fault. The road was later cleared after a fruit-laden truck crashed into the vehicles, scattering its contents and making the road slippery. In another incident in Sonipat, a woman assistant sub-inspector of police lost her life when her car collided with a truck taking a wrong turn on the highway. The police official was traveling to Jind from Sonipat when the accident occurred due to low visibility. Fog-related accidents have been reported across Haryana over the past two days, prompting district administrations and police to urge motorists to follow safety precautions and advisories. Pedestrians are advised to avoid walking near busy roads and highways, while reflective tapes are being pasted on vehicles to improve visibility during foggy conditions.
