A shocking incident of murder has been reported in Haryana's Sirsa district. On the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, 25-year-old Raj Kumar allegedly strangled his 42-year-old mother, Anguri Devi, and their 55-year-old neighbour, Lekh Raj, to death. According to police, the two were found in an intimate position inside Kumar's house, sparking the brutal killings. Following the incident, Kumar took the bodies to the Sirsa police station in his pick-up vehicle, where he surrendered and confessed to the crime. The accused claimed that his family had repeatedly warned his mother to end her 15-year-long extra-marital affair with Lekh Raj, but she refused to listen. Kumar used a cloth to strangle both victims, police said. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and Kumar was subsequently arrested for the murders. This incident has sparked a debate on the societal norms and the consequences of failing to address such issues. The Haryana Police's handling of the situation has also been criticized for its public shaming of the accused, drawing flak from various quarters.
