In a move to prevent fraudulent bidding, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij has ordered a thorough investigation into the income of a man who bid ₹1.17 crore for a luxury vehicle number but failed to make the payment by the deadline. According to reports, the man from Hisar was declared the winner of the auction for the registration number HR-88-B-8888 after placing the highest bid. However, he defaulted on the payment, despite initially paying ₹1,000 as a participation fee and ₹10,000 as a security deposit. Minister Vij has directed the Transport Department officials to verify the bidder's financial capacity and property to determine whether he can afford the ₹1.17 crore bid. The security deposit of ₹10,000 will be forfeited, and the number will be reauctioned. The minister emphasized that the auction process is not a casual affair, but a serious business that helps the state generate revenue. He has also sought a written request to the Income Tax Department for a thorough investigation to prevent individuals from participating in auctions with false financial claims or without sufficient economic ability in the future.
