A shocking case of serial murder has come to light in Haryana, where a 32-year-old woman, Poonam, allegedly killed three young girls over a period of two years due to her intense jealousy of their beauty. The victims included her niece, six, and two other girls related to her, aged nine and six. In a twisted attempt to avoid suspicion, Poonam also drowned her three-year-old son, Shubham. According to police, Poonam would lure her victims to a water-filled tub or tank, making it look like an accidental death. The latest incident occurred during a family wedding, where Poonam's niece went missing and was later found dead in a storeroom with her face submerged in a plastic tub filled with water. During her interrogation, Poonam revealed that she harboured a deep-seated hatred for beautiful girls, fearing they would surpass her in beauty as they grew older. Panipat Superintendent of Police Bhupender Singh described Poonam as a 'psycho type' and ruled out any child sacrifice angle. The police have arrested Poonam on charges of murder and informed relevant police stations. This disturbing case has sent shockwaves across the community, highlighting the darker aspects of human nature. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what drove Poonam to commit such heinous crimes.
