Himachal Braces for Rain, Snow from December 4, Dense Fog Warning Issued | India Weather Update

Himachal Pradesh is set to experience a dramatic shift in weather as the Shimla Meteorological office has predicted rain and snow in the mid and high hills from December 4 and 5. The state has issued a yellow warning for dense fog expected to hit areas around the Bhakra Dam reservoir in Bilaspur and some parts of the Balh Valley in Mandi from Monday to Wednesday. In a stark contrast to the current dry spell, the past 24 hours have seen a cold wave grip tribal areas and higher altitude regions, with temperatures plummeting below freezing. Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti recorded the lowest night temperature at -4.7°C, followed by Kukumseri and Samdho. Meanwhile, Una recorded the highest day temperature at 25.2°C. The state has received an excess of 55% rainfall in the past two months, with 69.5 mm of rain recorded against the normal 44.8 mm during the post-monsoon season from October 1 to November 30, as per the MeT.
