Patiyalkar village in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district is in a state of mourning after the death of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, a 34-year-old Indian Air Force pilot, in a Tejas aircraft crash during the Dubai Air Show. Syal, known for his exceptional flying skills and daring spirit, was performing a demonstration flight when the accident occurred on Friday. The village is remembering him as a brave and accomplished officer who made the community proud. Villagers and relatives have expressed their sorrow, calling Syal a brilliant child who represented the village on the national stage. "He was a brilliant child, and we are proud of him," said Mehar Chand, a villager. Syal's family is not present in the village, but extended family members have come to show solidarity and express grief. The late officer's wife is in Chennai, and his mortal remains are expected to reach there by evening, with the last rites to be held in Patiyalkar village. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway, with a court of inquiry being constituted by the Indian Air Force. Defence expert Captain Anil Gaur (Retd.) suggests that the pilot may have lost control or experienced a blackout due to g-forces, but the exact cause can only be determined after retrieving data from the cockpit. Syal is survived by his wife, who is also an IAF officer, their six-year-old daughter, and parents. The village is grieving the loss of a brave son who will be remembered for his exceptional service to the nation.
