India and Slovakia have elevated their relations to a comprehensive partnership, solidifying cooperation in defence, labour mobility, digital technologies, and cyber-security.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico, held talks to strengthen ties, with Modi highlighting potential cooperation in fields like automobiles, railways, space, and artificial intelligence.

The two countries concluded agreements on cooperation in defence, space, and civil nuclear energy, with a letter of intent on defence cooperation set to give new momentum to joint development and production.

A memorandum of understanding on labour migration will enhance the mobility of professionals and skilled workers, while an MoU on social security is expected to be finalised soon.

Fico welcomed the conclusion of negotiations between India and the EU on a free trade agreement, saying Slovakia's automobile sector will benefit from the deal.

The two sides also agreed to establish a joint working group on counter-terrorism and a consular dialogue, with Modi and Fico backing concerted global efforts to combat terrorism.
