The event also saw the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, who was accompanied by European leaders, including President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Antonio Luis Santos da Costa. The latter duo were in India on a state visit, invited by Prime Minister Modi from January 25-27. The European leaders' presence at the Republic Day celebrations underscored the strengthening of bilateral ties between India and the European Union.
