In a shocking revelation, senior Indian lawyer Sai Deepak has exposed the Pakistan High Commission's claim of a 'walkout' by the Indian delegation at the Oxford Union debate. The debate, scheduled for November 27, was on the topic 'This House believes that India's Policy Towards Pakistan Is a Populist Strategy Sold as Security Policy.' According to Deepak, he received an invitation to participate in the debate on July 7 and confirmed his participation on July 30. He was initially informed that former Army chief General MM Naravane and former lawmaker Subramanian Swamy would be participating in the debate, but they had to drop out due to unavoidable commitments. Deepak then organised a substitute team consisting of Manu Khajuria and Pt Satish K Sharma, who were already in the UK. However, just three hours before the debate dinner, he received a call from the Oxford Union informing him that the Pakistani team had not arrived in England, prompting him and his team to stay back in the city. Deepak accused the Oxford Union's leadership of turning into a 'mouthpiece for Pakistani interests in the UK' and slammed the Pakistani delegation for hiding instead of debating on the topic. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also confirmed that she was approached for the debate and slammed the organisers for the chaos, calling the Pakistani team 'liars.' The incident has sparked controversy, with many questioning the Pakistani team's last-minute no-show and the Oxford Union's handling of the situation.
