Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has unveiled India's vision to become a leading global shipbuilding hub, leveraging its integrated ecosystem and advanced capabilities to deliver cutting-edge naval vessels and commercial ships. In a keynote address at the Samudra Utkarsh seminar, Singh highlighted India's unique strengths in shipbuilding, from concept design to full life cycle support, with a robust value chain spanning steel, propulsion, electronics, and advanced combat systems. India's shipbuilding sector is backed by thousands of MSMEs and boasts multiple world-class platforms, reflecting technological maturity and industrial depth. The country's first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, and advanced submarines demonstrate its naval strength and expanding design capability. Singh emphasized India's capacity to deliver a wide range of vessels, from aircraft carriers to research vessels and energy-efficient commercial ships. He also stressed the importance of partnerships, stating that India is ready to "build not only ships, but trust; not only platforms, but partnerships.
