Indian Army Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ghatage Aditya Shrikumar has been awarded the prestigious Shaurya Chakra, the country's third-highest peacetime gallantry award, for his exceptional leadership and bravery during a daring operation along the India-Myanmar border last year. Between July 11-13, Colonel Shrikumar led a precision strike that resulted in the destruction of a fortified militant camp and the elimination of nine armed cadres, including senior leaders of a notorious anti-national group. This operation marked the first official acknowledgment of a mission conducted along the India-Myanmar border last year. President Droupadi Murmu approved gallantry awards to 70 armed forces personnel, including astronaut and fighter pilot Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who received the Ashoka Chakra for his historic space mission. Other notable recipients include Major Arshdeep Singh and Naib Subedar Doleshwar Subba, who were recognized for their bravery in separate operations.
