The representative of Iran's Supreme Leader in India, Dr Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, has reaffirmed the strong relationship between India and Iran, despite the recent attack on two Indian-flagged tankers near the Strait of Hormuz.
Ilahi stated that the relationship between the two nations is 'very strong' and that India benefits from these ties, citing the safe passage of its oil tankers through the Strait.
He also emphasized Iran's commitment to peace and its opposition to war, adding that the Prime Minister of India had successful conversations with the President of Iran and the EAM had several successful conversations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran.
The relationship between Iran and India is rooted in 5,000 years of history, with connections through culture, civilization, education, humanity, and philosophy.
However, the incident has raised concerns for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with the Iranian Navy warning vessels against approaching the chokepoint, saying such an act would be considered 'cooperating with the enemy' and that 'violating vessels will be targeted'.
