Palestine's Ambassador Abdullah Abu Shawesh expressed optimism about India's commitment to rebuilding Gaza, citing 'very good discussions' with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that India will soon provide practical support to Gaza and the West Bank, exceeding the ambassador's high expectations. Meanwhile, Shawesh criticized the United Nations for its failure to translate words into action, instead advocating for a boycott of Israeli occupation and settlements. He pointed out the hypocrisy of countries opposing Israeli settlements while trading with Israel. India has consistently supported a lasting peace in the region, welcoming the Gaza Peace Agreement and acknowledging the roles of the US, Egypt, and Qatar. The country has also championed the two-state solution for Middle East peace. The conflict in Gaza has resulted in devastating losses: at least 70,117 Palestinians killed and 170,999 wounded since the October 2023 Hamas attack. In Israel, 1,139 people were killed, and over 240 were taken captive during the same period, according to Al Jazeera.
