India's Winter Session: 10 Key Bills, Including Nuclear Sector Reform, Set to be Debated

New Delhi - As Parliament's winter session commences on December 1, the government has lined up 10 crucial bills for discussion. Among them is a landmark bill aimed at liberalizing India's civil nuclear sector, allowing private players to participate in the industry for the first time. The 'Atomic Energy Bill, 2025' seeks to establish a robust regulatory framework for the use and governance of atomic energy. The Higher Education Commission of India Bill is another significant legislation on the agenda. This bill aims to create a higher education commission that will empower universities and other institutions to become self-governing and promote excellence through a transparent accreditation system. Other notable bills include the National Highways Bill, which aims to streamline land acquisition for national highways, and the Corporate Laws Bill, 2025, which seeks to ease business regulations by tweaking the Companies Act and LLP Act. The government also plans to consolidate securities laws into a single code, the Securities Markets Code Bill, 2025, and make changes to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. Two bills from the previous session will be considered for passage, and a supplementary Budget will be presented. The winter session, which will conclude on December 19, is expected to feature 15 sittings, providing ample opportunity for lawmakers to engage with these critical bills and shape the country's future.
