{ "title": "India Skies to Clear by 7:30pm as Volcanic Ash from Ethiopia Eruption Spreads Across North India", "article": "A massive cloud of ash from the Hayli Gubbi volcanic eruption in Ethiopia has caused widespread disruptions to air travel in India. The ash plume, which reached Delhi on Tuesday night, has affected several states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Haryana. Aviation authorities have issued guidelines to airlines, advising them to avoid areas affected by the ash cloud. As a result, several flights have been cancelled, including 11 domestic and international flights operated by Air India. The airline has also initiated precautionary checks on aircraft that flew over regions impacted by the eruption. Akasa Air has also cancelled its flights to and from Jeddah, Kuwait, and Abu Dhabi due to the ash influence. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the ash cloud is moving eastward and is expected to clear Indian skies by 7:30 pm local time. The weather body has stated that high-level winds carried the ash cloud from Ethiopia across the Red Sea to Yemen and Oman and further over the Arabian Sea towards western and northern India. The eruption of the long-dormant Hayli Gubbi volcano in northern Ethiopia on Sunday sent ash plumes up to 14 kilometres high in the sky, affecting several countries in the region. The volcano has erupted for the first time in recorded history. The DGCA has issued a detailed advisory to airlines, asking them to adjust flight planning, routing, and fuel considerations based on the latest advisories. The agency has also asked airlines to strictly avoid published volcanic ash-affected areas and flight levels."
