India has condemned the recent surge in attacks on energy infrastructure in the Gulf region as the West Asia conflict intensifies. The country's statement comes after Iran launched retaliatory strikes on energy sites in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and Kuwait following an Israeli air strike on Iran's part of the world's largest gas field, South Pars.

India had previously called for avoiding civilian infrastructure attacks, including energy sites. The recent attacks are 'deeply disturbing' and 'unacceptable,' according to the Ministry of External Affairs, and only serve to destabilize the already uncertain global energy scenario.

The conflict escalated after Israel targeted South Pars, prompting Iran to call for evacuations near energy sites and launch retaliatory strikes. Iranian attacks caused extensive damage to Qatar's largest gas plant, targeted a Saudi Arabian refinery, forced the UAE to shut gas facilities, and set fires at two Kuwaiti refineries.

A joint statement from Arab and Islamic countries condemned the recent missile and drone attacks, following a consultative ministerial meeting in Riyadh on March 18.
