The Tejas aircraft, an indigenous multi-role Light Combat Aircraft, crashed in a ball of fire during an aerial display. Syal, a Himachal Pradesh native, was a thorough professional who served the nation with unwavering commitment, exceptional skill, and an unyielding sense of duty. His dedication to service earned him immense respect, and his colleagues, friends, and UAE officials paid tribute to him in a dignified send-off. The crash occurred around 2:10 pm local time, just minutes into the demonstration flight. The IAF has stood in solidarity with Syal's family, including his wife who also serves in the Air Force, and their six-year-old daughter. This tragic incident marks the second accident involving the Tejas aircraft in less than two years, following a crash in Jaisalmer in March 2024.
