Three Indian nationals were killed in Iranian attacks on two merchant vessels off the coast of Oman on Monday. One of the victims, 25-year-old Dixit Solanki from Mumbai, was identified as the youngest son of a fishing business owner.
Solanki was on the MKD VYOM vessel, which was hit by a projectile while en route to Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat. The vessel was flying the flag of the Marshall Islands and had 25 crew members on board.
The attack resulted in a fire and an explosion in the main engine room. The Indian embassy in Oman confirmed the incident and is working with local authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the remaining crew members.
