The IndiGo airline crisis has worsened, with the Delhi High Court agreeing to hear an urgent petition on December 10. The plea, filed on behalf of affected passengers, seeks support and refunds from the Centre. The crisis, sparked by hundreds of flight cancellations since December 2, has left passengers stranded and facing significant disruptions. According to aviation insiders, the main cause is regulatory changes affecting pilots' flight duty and regulations. The Central Government has taken steps to address the issue, with Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha stating that 100% refunds for PNR cancellations have been completed. He also assured that baggage will be delivered to passengers within the next 24 hours. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed IndiGo to reduce its operations by 10% across sectors, citing the airline's inability to operate efficient winter and summer schedules. Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said this move will help stabilise the airline's operations and reduce cancellations. The Supreme Court has refused to intervene, with Chief Justice Surya Kant stating that the Centre has taken steps to address the issue. However, lakhs of people remain stranded at airports. IndiGo has reportedly cancelled over 400 flights, with Delhi and Bengaluru being the worst-affected cities. Since the beginning of the cancellations, nearly 5,000 flights have been cancelled. The airline has been asked to submit a revised schedule by 5 PM on December 10. The Delhi High Court's decision to hear the urgent plea is seen as a significant development in the crisis.
