IndiGo has apologised to thousands of passengers affected by the cancellation of over 150 flights and subsequent delays at major airports across the country. The airline cited unforeseen operational challenges, including minor technology glitches, winter schedule changes, and increased congestion in the aviation system, as the cause of the disruptions. The disruptions were also partly attributed to the implementation of updated crew rostering rules, which had a negative impact on the airline's operations. However, the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) clarified that the flight cancellations cannot be attributed to the Delhi High Court-mandated regulations for pilots. IndiGo has taken steps to contain the disruption and restore stability, initiating 'calibrated adjustments' to its schedules for the next 48 hours. Affected customers are being offered alternate travel arrangements or refunds, as applicable. The airline urged passengers to check the latest flight status on their website before heading to the airport. The disruptions have affected several airports, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, with hundreds of flights cancelled or delayed. Air India, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet were also among those with delayed flights after experiencing an outage in check-in systems due to a global Amadeus software issue. IndiGo has committed to minimising disruption and supporting its customers through this period. The airline's efforts to stabilise operations are ongoing, and it is working to normalise its operations and progressively recover its punctuality across the network.
