The government has taken a drastic step to curb IndiGo's flight disruptions, directing the airline to cut its operations by 10%. The move comes on the ninth day of a chaotic period that has seen over 4,600 flight cancellations since December 2. Despite IndiGo's assurances of a return to normalcy, the cancellations persist. The airline has been struggling with internal mismanagement, causing severe inconvenience to passengers across the country. The cancellations have been staggering: over 150 on December 2, nearly 200 on December 3, over 300 on December 4, and a peak of 1,600 on December 5. Even as the situation seems to be stabilizing, further disruptions are likely. The civil aviation ministry's directive to IndiGo follows an earlier order by the DGCA to cut its winter schedule by 5%. Passengers are still reeling from the flight disruptions, with early morning visuals showing long queues at airports like Delhi and Ahmedabad. Bengaluru and Delhi were among the worst affected, with over 100 cancellations each on December 8. As the airline struggles to get back on track, passengers are left waiting for their flights to resume.
