Pune and Nagpur airports were thrown into chaos on Tuesday as hundreds of IndiGo passengers faced severe disruption, with multiple flights delayed or cancelled without clear updates. Passengers shared harrowing experiences of waiting for hours inside aircraft, receiving contradictory information from ground staff, and missing onward journeys. In Pune, flights to Bengaluru, Delhi, Kochi, and Agartala were delayed for hours and later cancelled, leaving passengers frustrated and stranded. 'Total chaos' was the sentiment echoed by many, who described the situation as 'unbelievable'. One passenger, Neha Mulay, was booked on a 5.55am flight from Pune to Bengaluru but had to wait nearly four hours before it was cancelled, causing her to miss two connecting flights to Kochi. Another passenger, Raviraj Kajave, was left stranded after being boarded for a flight and kept waiting for hours before it was cancelled. The lack of communication from IndiGo was a major point of contention, with passengers accusing the airline of failing to issue timely SMS alerts or announcements. 'The bare minimum is to inform passengers when a flight is cancelled. No updates, no message – just chaos,' said Vishal, an affected traveller. The situation was equally dire in Nagpur, where passengers scheduled to fly to Pune were repeatedly boarded, deboarded, and made to wait in coaches due to the non-availability of pilots. Disabled seniors in wheelchairs and infants were among those stranded, with no explanation provided for the delay. The disruptions have drawn the attention of the Civil Aviation Ministry and the DGCA, with IndiGo issuing a statement apologizing for the inconvenience caused. The airline has advised passengers to check flight status on its website before heading to the airport. IndiGo has cited technology issues, airport congestion, and operational requirements as the reasons for the delays and cancellations. However, passengers who were flying for medical appointments, job interviews, school exams, and other essential commitments felt let down by the airline's response. 'We had urgent work – schools, offices, treatments, interviews. There was no help,' said Shrinivas Chiparikar, whose Nagpur–Pune flight was cancelled. As IndiGo works to normalize operations, passengers are advised to be prepared for further disruptions and to check their flight status regularly.
