Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport faced significant disruptions on Saturday as IndiGo cancelled 10 flights to and from the airport. The cancellations, along with 85 delayed flights, were largely due to a severe crew shortage. The airline, which operates over 2,300 domestic and international flights daily, had previously warned of operational disruptions due to a 'multitude of unforeseen challenges.' These challenges included minor technology glitches, winter season schedule changes, and adverse weather conditions. On Wednesday, IndiGo apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the cancellations and delays, citing increased congestion in the aviation system and the implementation of updated crew rostering rules as contributing factors. The airline's operational disruptions have affected passengers across various airports, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, where over 100 IndiGo flights were cancelled. The airline's efforts to adjust its schedule and mitigate the disruptions are ongoing, with passengers advised to check their flight status regularly for updates.
