External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar warned on Saturday that the global order established 80 years ago is rapidly unraveling. Speaking at the Symbiosis International convocation in Pune, he noted that the world is in a state of significant transition, making it challenging to draw a clear picture of the current global landscape. Jaishankar attributed the changing global order to the shifting policies and politics of individual nations, which are reacting to trends that have been accelerated by technological advancements. He identified three key concepts driving this change: globalization, rebalancing, and multipolarity. The minister emphasized that no single powerful country can dictate global issues, as multiple centers of power and influence have emerged worldwide. This has led to a natural competition among nations, creating its own balance. Jaishankar also highlighted the importance of globalization in transforming the way we think and work. He stressed that large economies, such as India's, must develop contemporary manufacturing capabilities to keep pace with technological advancements. In the face of these changes, Jaishankar urged nations to recognize the need for flexibility and adaptability in their foreign relations, acknowledging the principle of 'freedom of choice' in international interactions.
