India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has cautioned the US and European nations against imposing strict immigration restrictions, warning that such measures could harm their own interests. Speaking at an interactive session on mobility, Jaishankar emphasized that the current economic challenges in these countries are not directly linked to the influx of foreign workers. The minister pointed out that Western nations' problems are a result of policy decisions made over the last two decades, which included allowing businesses to relocate. "They have to find ways of fixing it," Jaishankar said, adding that many countries are already doing so. Jaishankar stressed the importance of highlighting the shared benefits of allowing skilled workers to move freely across borders. "Mobility, the use of talent across boundaries, is to our mutual benefit," he noted. "If they erect too many roadblocks to the flow of talent, they would be net losers.
