Ranchi/Jamshedpur: In a massive security operation, Jharkhand is gearing up to host President Droupadi Murmu from December 28 to 30. As part of the preparations, security has been tightened, and traffic restrictions have been imposed across the state. The President's itinerary includes visits to Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Gumla, where she will attend the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script of the Santali language and address the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur. To ensure the President's safety, a 200-metre no-fly zone has been designated from Birsa Munda Airport to Lok Bhavan, and a prohibitory order will be in force from December 28 to 30. Ranchi Superintendent of Police Paras Rana said that over 2,000 security personnel will be deployed in the city, with drones used for monitoring. High-rise buildings will also be secured, and an anti-sabotage checking drive is underway. In Jamshedpur, the East Singhbhum district administration has reviewed preparations and directed officials to ensure fool-proof security, traffic arrangements, and beautification of the programme venue. Traffic curbs have been imposed in Ranchi, with the entry of large and small goods vehicles prohibited from 4 pm to 8.30 pm on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Around 1,500 traffic personnel will be deployed in the city, and heavy goods vehicles will be diverted through the Ring Road. The entry of all types of vehicles will also be prohibited on certain routes from Monday to Tuesday. Vehicles coming from Jamshedpur and Bundu will enter Ranchi via Tatisilwai, while Jamshedpur-bound vehicles will proceed through Durga Soren Chowk to Tatisilwai and then via Ring Road. The state administration is taking all necessary measures to ensure a smooth and secure visit of the President. The preparations are being closely monitored by the district administrations, and officials are working round the clock to complete the necessary preparations within the stipulated time-frame.
