Five migrant workers from Jharkhand, who were stuck in Cameroon without pay for five months, have finally been reunited with their families back in India. The workers, hired by a Mumbai-based company to lay transmission lines, were allegedly denied their salaries by the employer. However, with the intervention of the Indian High Commission in Cameroon and the State Migrant Control Room, their outstanding wages were cleared. The workers, Sunil Mahato, Sukar Mahato, Chandrashekhar Kumar, Dilon Mahato, and Dilchand Mahato, had shared a distressing video of their ordeal with social activist Sikander Ali, prompting the Labour Department to take action. The workers were flown back to Mumbai on Tuesday and are scheduled to return to Jharkhand by train on Wednesday.
