Five migrant workers from Jharkhand, who were hired by a Mumbai-based company to work on a power project in Cameroon, are facing a desperate situation. They claim that they have not received their salaries for the past five months, leaving them struggling to afford basic necessities like food and accommodation. The workers, who are from Hazaribagh and Giridih districts, reached out to social activist Sikander Ali, who brought their plight to the attention of the state government. The government has since taken up the matter with the Indian Embassy in Cameroon to arrange for the workers' safe return. The incident is the latest in a series of struggles faced by Jharkhand migrant workers abroad. Earlier this month, 48 workers from the state were stranded in Tunisia, forced to work without pay and facing harsh conditions. According to team leader Shikha Lakra of the State Migrant Control Room, the government is working to resolve the situation and ensure the safe return of the workers. The government's priority is to protect the interests of the workers and provide them with the necessary support. As the situation unfolds, the government's actions will be closely watched to ensure that the rights of migrant workers are protected and that they receive the support they need to return home safely.
