Actor and BJP leader Kangana Ranaut celebrated her party's historic victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, targeting those she called 'women-haters, bullies, and nepotism mafia' over the demolition of her bungalow in 2020. The BMC had demolished a part of her upscale Pali Hill bungalow, leading Ranaut to approach the Bombay high court. The court ruled that the civic body's action was 'actuated by malafide' and disregarded her rights. Ranaut expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after the BJP emerged as the single-largest party in Mumbai. Speaking about the 2020 incident, she said, 'Maharashtra has shown the right place to those who abused me, demolished my house, and threatened me to leave.' The BJP secured 89 seats, winning 11,79,273 votes, which accounted for 21.58% of the total votes. The party's overall vote share stood at 45.22%, making it the single-largest party in the civic body. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance won 25 of the 29 municipal corporations, including key civic bodies in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Thane, Nashik, and Navi Mumbai. Ranaut's comments come as a response to the BMC's actions against her, which she believes were motivated by malice after her comments against the Mumbai Police.
