In a high-stakes meeting, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah pressed his deputy DK Shivakumar to take over the top role after the 2028 Assembly elections, sources revealed. The discussion, held over breakfast, came amidst a power struggle in the Congress-led state government. Siddaramaiah, who assumed the CM position in 2023, had reportedly agreed to a 'rotational CM arrangement' with Shivakumar. According to this deal, Shivakumar was set to take over as CM after Siddaramaiah completed half of his tenure. However, both leaders stuck to their positions during the meeting, further fueling speculation about a possible leadership change. The meeting was called after the Congress high command urged both senior leaders to discuss the matter. The Congress high command is set to discuss the Karnataka leadership tussle in a Strategy Group meeting on Sunday, November 30, ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament. The meeting will be attended by senior leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge.
