The Congress party in Karnataka has sought to dispel speculation about leadership changes ahead of the key Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Delhi on December 27. Senior leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar, have maintained that the meeting will be strictly for CWC members, dismissing rumors of broader consultations. While sidestepping questions on leadership speculation, Shivakumar expressed concerns about the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin Act, criticizing the proposed changes to its funding structure. He warned that the scheme could fail due to the high 40% funding requirement, which he believes no state government can afford. Meanwhile, internal tensions within the Karnataka Congress have come to the forefront. Former Minister K N Rajanna has reportedly written to party leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing some party members of misrepresenting his remarks on vote theft, which led to his removal from the cabinet. Rajanna maintains that his comments were intended to highlight organizational shortcomings, not embarrass the party or its leadership. As the party prepares for the CWC meeting, the Karnataka Congress leadership is focusing on addressing the state's organizational issues, rather than leadership changes. However, the internal disquiet and criticism of the party's policies may cast a shadow over the meeting and the party's future prospects in the state.
