Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has sought to reassure the public that the Congress party is united and focused on its goals. Speaking on Wednesday, Shivakumar emphasized the party's commitment to winning the 2028 state assembly and 2029 Lok Sabha elections, with the ultimate aim of making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. Shivakumar, who also leads the Karnataka Congress, refused to disclose details of a message he allegedly received from Rahul Gandhi, citing the need for discretion. However, he hinted at a possible visit to Delhi to meet with the party's high command. The Deputy Chief Minister dismissed rumors of internal divisions within the party, stating that he believes in collective leadership. He also avoided direct answers about an alleged 2.5-year power-sharing agreement with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, insisting that internal matters would be handled privately. Shivakumar's comments come amidst renewed speculation about a power-sharing deal between him and the Chief Minister. He suggested that a visit to Delhi was likely in the coming days to finalize party matters, including the selection of MLC seats and party properties. The Congress leader also downplayed reports of a cancelled dinner meeting, stating that it was a prudent decision to avoid sending the wrong message. Shivakumar's remarks are seen as an attempt to quell rumors of infighting within the party and reassure supporters ahead of the upcoming elections.
