A leadership tussle in Karnataka's Congress government is set to be resolved with a crucial meeting in Delhi. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced that he will convene a meeting with top leaders, including chief minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar, to put an end to the ongoing confusion. The issue began when Shivakumar hinted at a 'secret deal' between the national Congress leadership and Siddaramaiah, suggesting that the chief minister would step down after two-and-a-half years. However, Siddaramaiah rejected this claim, stating that he will complete his five-year term. The CM also highlighted his achievements in the state, including five welfare schemes. In a Twitter exchange, Shivakumar posted that 'word power is world power,' which Siddaramaiah responded to by saying that a promise is only effective if it benefits the people. The exchange was seen as a reference to the ongoing leadership dispute. Kharge has reassured that the meeting will be held to resolve the issue and end the confusion. 'We will call all the leaders, discuss, and decide on how to move forward,' he said. Rahul Gandhi will also be part of the meeting, along with other top leaders. Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have expressed their willingness to attend the meeting if summoned by the party. Meanwhile, home minister G Parameshwara, a close associate of Siddaramaiah, has accepted the possibility of Shivakumar becoming the chief minister if the party decides so. The Congress high command is expected to meet in Delhi on November 29, when Sonia Gandhi returns to the city. The meeting is likely to be a crucial one in resolving the leadership tussle and deciding the future of the Karnataka government.
