Kashmir Shivers: Coldest November in 15 Years Leaves Srinagar at -4.5°C

Kashmir is experiencing its chilliest November in over a decade, with temperatures plummeting across the region. The minimum temperature in Srinagar, the region's largest city, dropped to a record low of -4.5°C on the night of November 27-28. This is the lowest temperature recorded in Srinagar since 2007, when the city witnessed a minimum temperature of -4.8°C on November 28. The cold wave has been intensifying over the past few days, with the night temperature in Srinagar dipping a staggering four degrees below the normal for the season. Several other locations in the valley have also reported their lowest night temperatures in November since 2007. According to officials, the coldest recorded place in the valley on the night of November 27-28 was Konibal in Pulwama district, which recorded a minimum temperature of -6°C. Other areas, including Qazigund, Kupwara, Kokernag, Pahalgam, and Gulmarg, also experienced sub-zero temperatures. The meteorological department has forecast mainly dry weather across Kashmir till December 10, but warned of a possibility of further falls in night temperatures. Residents of the region are bracing for more chilly days ahead, with the mercury expected to remain low for the next few weeks.
