Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his government's handling of the Middle East crisis, calling it a 'reckless abdication of India's strategic and national interests.'
Kharge raised multiple questions about the government's response to the escalating situation in West Asia and the plight of Indian nationals stranded in the region.
He highlighted the humanitarian crisis affecting Indian sailors in the Gulf of Hormuz, where 38 Indian Flag commercial ships along with 1100 sailors are stuck, and two Indian sailors have reportedly died.
Kharge also questioned the government's silence on its own doctrines and accused the Prime Minister of surrender and compromising India's foreign policy.
He pointed to the MEA statement on March 3, 2026, regarding Indian nationals in the Gulf region, and asked how the government is securing their well-being and if there is any evacuation plan in place from the affected areas.
