A devastating fire, sparked by a ruptured LPG cylinder, swept through a remote village in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The blaze, which erupted in Thachna village late on Thursday, gutted five houses and injured two people who were assisting with firefighting efforts. Emergency teams, comprising officials from the district administration, police, army, and fire services, joined forces with local residents to bring the inferno under control. Firefighters rushed to the scene, and nearby LPG cylinders were safely removed to prevent further spread of the fire. Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Sharma, who monitored the operation, confirmed that the fire was eventually extinguished after several hours. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. 'The fire has been brought under control, but four to five houses were severely damaged,' Sharma said. 'We have provided tents and relief materials to the affected families, and a detailed assessment of the losses will be conducted soon.' Local leaders, including Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma and National Conference MP Sajad Kitchloo, have expressed their condolences and pledged support to the affected families. They have urged the authorities to provide urgent relief, temporary shelter, and rehabilitation to those affected by the fire, particularly in the harsh winter conditions.
