A 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Bangladesh's Narsingdi on Friday morning, sending shockwaves to nearby Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the quake occurred 13 km south-southwest of Narsingdi at a depth of 10 km. The tremors were strong enough to prompt residents to rush out of their homes and offices as a precautionary measure. Residents of Kolkata and Guwahati in Assam took to social media to describe the experience. Many reported feeling a 'small quake but big panic,' with some saying the tremors lasted over 30 seconds. Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property.
