However, when the woman pressed him to marry her, he distanced himself and eventually fled Kolkata, securing a job in Mumbai and changing his phone number. According to investigators, the man had even processed a visa to leave the country, making it challenging for the authorities to track him down. The woman, unable to contact him, lodged a complaint with the Kasba Police Station in Kolkata. Despite difficulties in tracing the accused, the police were able to identify his workplace in Mumbai through his social media profiles. The Kasba police team traveled to Mumbai and arrested the man on Sunday, bringing an end to a prolonged investigation.
