Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has expressed her deep concern over the alarming air quality in Delhi, urging immediate action to prevent further deterioration. The actress, a native of Delhi, pointed out the stark contrast between the city's current state and its past, stating, 'It (pollution) is getting worse and worse.' Sanon's sentiments come as the city struggles with severe air pollution, with the average Air Quality Index (AQI) on Saturday reaching 370, categorized as 'very poor.' The situation worsened on Sunday, with an AQI reading of 383 at 12 pm, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In response to the crisis, the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas has revised the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), introducing more stringent measures to combat pollution. The Supreme Court has also allowed the implementation of measures from later stages of GRAP, shifting Stage 4 measures to Stage 3. This includes: - Allowing public, municipal, and private offices to operate at 50% capacity, with the remaining staff working from home. - Permitting central government employees to work from home. Sanon's plea for action echoes the concerns of many Delhi residents, who are struggling with the adverse effects of pollution on their health and quality of life. As the city continues to grapple with this crisis, it remains to be seen whether these measures will be sufficient to curb the pollution and restore the city's air quality to a healthier state.
