A Karnataka High Court interim order has temporarily halted the naming of eligible candidates for the KSCA president's post. The move comes after sports administrator KN Shanth Kumar challenged the rejection of his nomination, citing a technicality. Kumar, a member of former India cricketer Brijesh Patel's 'Team Brijesh,' was rejected due to an outstanding subscription fee arrear of ₹200 from the sports club he represents. Kumar argues that the decision was unfair and that he was not personally responsible for the debt. He claims the arrears had been paid before the nomination scrutiny and that his club had been allowed to participate in state tournaments and elections. Kumar will present video evidence on Thursday to support his claim. The KSCA elections are scheduled for December 7, but the high court's order has put a temporary hold on the process. Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, who was set to be elected unopposed, has opposed Kumar's plea, arguing that the nomination rejection cannot be challenged after the fact. The court will continue to hear the matter on Thursday and has also granted a request from another candidate, Kalpana Venkatachar, to restrain the KSCA from taking a final decision on her withdrawal from the race. The outcome of the court's decision will have a significant impact on the KSCA elections and the future of the association's leadership.
