The incident occurred in Raisikh Bas village, where two factions of a family clashed over three bighas of land that had been a point of contention for nearly 20 days. According to police, the dispute centered around a land distribution issue between Deepo Bai's husband, Charan Singh, and his cousin Jangeer, who had recently obtained a stay order on the land. On Friday morning, Jangeer arrived with a group of eight men, armed with guns and sticks, and attacked Singh's house. During the confrontation, Jangeer allegedly opened fire, striking Deepo Bai (50) in the neck, resulting in her instant death. Charan Singh, his sons Kuldeep and Kulwant, and two others were injured in the attack and are receiving treatment at a local hospital. Four suspects have been detained for questioning, and additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order in the area. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the remaining accused. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of unresolved land disputes and the need for timely intervention to prevent such tragedies in the future.
