The lawyer for Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, co-owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, argued in a Delhi court that the brothers were not absconders and were willing to cooperate with the investigation into the Goa nightclub fire that killed 25 people. The brothers, who were detained in Thailand, had filed an anticipatory bail plea, citing threats to their family and the destruction of their properties. According to their lawyer, senior advocate Tanvir Ahmed Mir, the brothers were not served a notice to join the investigation and a warrant was issued immediately. He argued that the brothers were not absconders, but rather businessmen who manage 40 restaurants across India and had traveled to Phuket for an event. The Goa police, however, contended that the brothers had shown no cooperation during the probe and had misled authorities about their departure from India. The police claimed that the brothers left the country on December 7, but told the court that they had left on the night of December 6. The court later denied the bail plea. The incident has sparked a heated debate, with the police and the Luthra brothers' lawyer presenting opposing views on the matter. As the investigation continues, the Luthra brothers' lawyer has emphasized that they are willing to cooperate and are not absconders.
