French President Emmanuel Macron surprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a heartfelt farewell message in Hindi as the Indian leader concluded his multi-city visit to France.
The warm exchange took place at the end of Modi's visit to Paris, the final stop of a France tour that began in Nice and included the G7 summit in Evian.
Macron said in Hindi, 'Priya mitra Narendra, mujhe bohot khushi hui aapk Nice, Evian aur Paris mein swagat karke. France aur Bharat ki dosti amar rahe.'
He then switched to English, thanking Modi for his friendship and expressing his happiness at seeing the Indian leader surrounded by friends in Paris before departing for Delhi.
Macron also announced plans to visit India in February next year.
Modi's visit to France aimed to deepen the India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership, which was elevated earlier this year.
The leaders attended VivaTech 2026 in Paris, where India is the AI Country Partner, and Modi addressed members of the Indian diaspora in Paris.
