A trainer aircraft from Redbird Flight Training Academy crashed in Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday evening, leaving pilot Ajit Chawda and flight instructor Ajit Anthony injured. The incident occurred when the aircraft's engine failed, causing it to lose power and collide with a 33kV high-voltage power line near the Suktara airstrip. Eyewitnesses described the dramatic scene, saying the plane's wings touched the power line, resulting in a loud explosion and sparks flying everywhere. The pilot and instructor, who were on board, managed to contact air control and were instructed to make an emergency landing in a nearby field. However, the plane crashed to the ground before they could complete the landing. The two injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Barapathar. The crash also disrupted electricity supply to 80-90 villages in the area, with power distribution company employees working to restore services. An investigation into the incident is underway, with a team sent to the crash site to determine the cause of the engine failure.
