The Maharashtra municipal elections have come to an end, with a voter turnout of 47.04% recorded across 166 municipal councils and nagar panchayats. The voting process, which began at 7:30 am on Saturday, concluded at 5:30 pm. Counting of votes will take place on Sunday at 10 am, as per the state election commission. In Nashik, a voter was taken into custody for attempting to cast a ballot using a fake Aadhaar card. The elections saw various alliances, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Shiv Sena, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), competing against each other. The polls were initially postponed in Baramati and five other councils due to court rulings, but the revised polling date was set for December 20. The first phase of elections took place on December 2, covering 263 municipal councils and nagar panchayats. Counting for all 286 local bodies will be conducted simultaneously on Sunday.
