West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed concerns over two contentious issues related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state. In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, she questioned whether these developments were done under pressure from a political party. The SIR exercise, which has already sparked a heated debate, has led to the deaths of some booth level officers (BLOs) in various states, including Bengal. The ruling TMC has accused the Election Commission of acting in favor of a particular party, while the BJP has criticized Banerjee for allegedly trying to protect her "vote bank of ineligible and illegal elements.
