Midnight Heists Near Vidhana Soudha: Police Launch Probe into Two Separate Robberies

Police in Bengaluru have launched a probe into two separate robberies that took place near the Vidhana Soudha metro station in the early hours of Sunday. In the first incident, two siblings from Nepal were allegedly assaulted and robbed of their belongings by a group of five to six men. The attackers, who were known to the victims, stole a mobile phone worth ₹30,000 and ₹9,182 in cash. The siblings, aged 22 and 20, sustained injuries during the assault. According to Central DCP Akshay M Machchindra, the victims and the accused had a prior connection and were in Bengaluru for construction work. The incident has raised questions about the effectiveness of CCTV surveillance and regular patrols in the area. A second case was filed on Tuesday, involving another construction worker from Nepal who was robbed by a group of five to six men. In this incident, the victims and suspects were also known to each other. Police have registered cases under BNS Section 351 (criminal intimidation) and 309 (robbery) at Vidhana Soudha police station. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and tracing the IMEI number of the stolen phone to identify the perpetrators. The police are working to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
