In a bid to boost BJP's prospects in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming state elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the party's growing popularity among the younger generation, particularly Gen Z. Speaking at a rally in West Bengal on Saturday, PM Modi highlighted the recent successes of the BJP in the BMC polls in Mumbai and the Thiruvananthapuram civic elections in Kerala. These wins, he said, demonstrate the country's voters and the Gen Z's increasing trust in the BJP's development model. The prime minister cited the historic victory of the BJP in the BMC polls, particularly in Mumbai, and the party's first mayor win in Thiruvananthapuram. He claimed that areas previously considered unfavorable to the BJP are now witnessing a surge in support for the party. PM Modi's Bengal rally comes as the BJP attempts to strengthen its presence in the state, where the party secured the second-largest position in the 2021 assembly polls. The prime minister also launched several infrastructure projects worth ₹3,250 crore in West Bengal and flagged off India's first Vande Bharat sleeper train between Howrah and Guwahati. Additionally, he unveiled a new slogan for Bengal, 'Paltano darkar, chayee BJP sarkar,' calling for a change and a BJP-led government in the state.
