Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to present India's perspective at the 20th G20 Summit, being hosted by South Africa in Johannesburg. The two-day summit, which begins on November 22-23, has Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability as its theme, building on the outcomes of previous summits in New Delhi and Rio de Janeiro. At this historic summit, which marks the first G20 Summit to be held in Africa, Modi will engage with world leaders on key global issues, including debt sustainability for low-income countries, financing for a just energy transition, and disaster resilience. These areas are among the four priority issues identified by South Africa for the summit. Modi, who arrived in Johannesburg on Friday, is expected to speak at all three sessions of the summit, focusing on inclusive economic growth, disaster risk reduction, climate change, and artificial intelligence. The Indian Prime Minister will also participate in the 6th IBSA Summit, scheduled on the sidelines of the main event. During his visit, Modi was accorded a warm welcome at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Gauteng province, complete with a red-carpet salute and cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of various Indian states. The Prime Minister expressed his enthusiasm for the summit, citing his focus on strengthening cooperation, advancing development priorities, and ensuring a better future for all. As part of his engagement, Modi was welcomed by a group of local children who recited a prayer, followed by traditional dances performed by artists from different Indian states. The Prime Minister's visit marks a significant moment in India's presidency of the G20, which saw the African Union become a member in 2023.
